![]() Before Henry Lincoln, Rennes-le-Chateau was an out-of-the-way little village in southwest France, quiet and obscure to the world. Then came Henry Lincoln who, in effect, put Rennes-le-Chateau on the map for all of us to see and, unfortunately, to descend upon. He found a bounty of mysteries that he and his co-authors shared with us in The Holy Blood and The Holy Grail. For many of us it was our first introduction to not only the enigmatic Berenger Sauniere, but also the Knights Templar and certain perspectives on history that defy conventional thinking. This seminal work has inspired subsequent inquiry by writers, researchers and historians who have added their own writings to an ever-growing library of publications. With the advent of the Internet, there are several very excellent web sites devoted to the subjects of Rennes-le-Chateau, the Knights Templar and related subjects.
